Amisha Patel

Name : Amisha Patel
Gender : Female
Date of birth : Jun 09, 1976
City : Mumbai
State/Region : Maharashtra
Country : India

The granddaughter of renowned lawyer Rajni Patel, Amisha was a brilliant student who won a gold medal in Economics at Tufts University in the United States. After graduation, she took up a job in a finance company and had a brief stint at modeling. On her return to India, Amisha joined the theater group run by Satyadev Dubey and began to act in plays.

However, destiny had different plans for her. Amisha became a star overnight when her debut film Kaho Na Pyar Hai in 2000 with Hrithik Roshan proved a major hit. Although overshadowed by Hrithik, who became a national craze, KNPH’s success gave Amisha a solid footing in Bollywood. Interestingly, many Bollywood insiders believe that she got the role only due to Kareena Kapoor’s walkout and the Patels’ long friendship with the Roshan family. Amisha’s brother Ashmit Patel has also joined films, although with not much success.

There were rumors again that she replaced original choice Priyanka Chopra in this film. Her next films, including The Rising based on the life of mutineer Mangal Pandey played by Aamir Khan, met with moderate success. Amisha is now working in a number of films including Priyadarshan’s Bhool Bhulaiya and Kunal Kohli’s next venture that also stars Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji.

Amisha has recently been in the news mostly for all the wrong reasons. She first made headlines for her association with director Vikram Bhatt with whom she is living at present. Not very long ago, she also served her father Amit Patel a legal notice accusing him of mismanaging her accounts and assets amounting to nearly Rs.12 crore.
